Nick Vujicic – a living manifestation of victory over life’s difficulties.

hey guys… it’s been such a long while since i last updated this blog.. to be honest i have been going through a lot..life has been dull and boring and disappointing, with some stresses to add up to my frustrations..  and when i get these mood swings i tend to just lock myself in my room and confine myself in there…and that’s what i have been doing so far…….been so melancholic yer.. i don’t open up to people easily..but oh well

several days ago i was browsing youtube to try to cheer myself up and i stumbled across some really good videos which really moved my heart.. an example of a video is a video of a guy who has no legs, and no arms..at all!!! and he’s still living a very happy life.. and he’s enjoying his life. even without those arms and legs which normal humans deem necessary.. i guess you dont need those to get happy… the name of this guy is Nick Vujicic.

this is Nick Vujicic. respect!

the first time i saw this photo, i was like, “Oh ****.. God is such a ****!!!” i couldn’t imagine how unjust God was at the moment.. but then as i read through his life history and how he faced every challenge, i realized that God wasn’t intending to create a havoc in his life but instead, God was creating a miracle out of him.

nick struggled a lot ever since he was born into this harsh world. he never gave up, though, even though sometimes in her early youth, he claimed that he had tried to end his life. looks like he didn’t end it eventually, instead, he grasped his life with his heart and flew with it, soaring mightily above the limits. he grew up, learning more and more of this life and seeking what it has for him, and now he preaches to people, motivating people and transforming lives by using his life as an inspiration to everyone.

Nicholas James Vujicic (born 4 December 1982) is a preacher and motivational speaker – born with Tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs. He struggled as a child, eventually came to terms with his disability and started his own non-profit organization Life Without Limbs – at age seventeen. Vujicic presents motivational speeches worldwide, on life with a disability, hope, and finding meaning in life.” -Wikipedia

nick struggled as a child, but he never gave up

this is Nick when preaching in front of so many students. he always talks about life and that's what he's good at: living life.

i have not many words to describe him and how he lived his life. but if a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth more.

here’s a video that really inspired me and changed the way i thought about this life. and i hope it will change you too, and the angle from which you see this life.

below is a video of his life, in his own words.

here is another video of him, and the best so far that i have watched. well i haven’t watched all of his videos so dont use my opinion as reference or something.

this guy really inspired me and i wish i could just go there and hug him tight and say Thank you for changing many lives, giving hope to those who think their lives suck.

this guy proved and showed everyone that no matter how sick life gets, there is possibility that you can get up. you live a life better than most people do, and you have more than what Nick has, but what we all need is how to live this life to the fullest, the way he has. his smile shows there is always a spark of happiness within the darkness of agony. well done, nick. i am speechless. i salute you.

you can visit youtube and search “Nick Vujicic” and you’ll get countless results.

this is a website (probably built by him).

Beauty Tips? here are mine :p

the internet connection has been a pain in the ass..

..............and nothing changed for a week or more...........damn internet....

and i have also been busy studying spanish and japanese languages.. i have this sudden boost of mood to learn new languages i dont know why..hahaha.. i listened to some spanish songs and yeah it helped..

anywayyy…..

now that i have time to blog again, i think blogging about health would be quite interesting.. especially for you ladies! and not only for ladies… men can be more handsome by following some of my beauty tips..

i’m not a girl so i’m not that keen enough to care about fashion and stuff.. but since i was in the science stream and have studied a bit about nutrition and health care, i think i know what it takes to be beautiful naturally, without the help of make ups or expensive treatments.. ;)

who says being beautiful costs a lot? haha.. these easy tips might help smoother your skin and make your pale face look brighter and more vivid :)

so without further ado, let’s get started :D

ONE:

the first is: WATER!

simple? yeah but effective! many people tend to always crave for beauty, without actually realizing that drinking enough water (1.8 litres a day..well, make it 2! haha) actually have benefits that can make u look fresher.

besides, 60%-70% of our body consists of water too!

-you will have a more radiant complexion if u drink a lot of water.. don’t worry about having to pee every now and then because of your drinking a lot of water.. peeing is healthy anyway! it throws away those toxins or waste from the body, or even the bacteria, keeping you healthy always!

-the skin is intricately tied to our overall health.. if your body is well hydrated, then your skin will feel a lot better if you touch it…have you ever felt dehydrated? i mean, feeling so thirsty… yeah being dehydrated really makes you look pale.. try not drinking for a day and dehydrate yourself.. and then look in the mirror and you’ll see a very pale and sluggish face..

-if you are trying to lose weight, consider drinking more water. why? because burning fat creates waste products which need to be removed from the body.. the more fat you burn, the more of those toxic waste products need to be removed.. and water will help quicken the removal of those waste products.. this will in turn help you lose weight quicker!

How to know that you are dehydrated:

- you dont feel so good… you’re not in a good mood…because water is cool..and your body is warm.. if you lack water, then that means the balance is off and you feel so warm and that’s not a good sign…you’ll have mood swings easily too.. so water keeps you cool if you drink enough of it.. ;)

-just pee. if your pee is yellow or pale orange, that means u need to drink!!! if it’s white, then that’s great! you’re really hydrated!

-you feel thirsty… (d’uh!!!)

TWO:

second is.........zzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzz...............................

yep…*yawn*… it’s true, guys.. it’s really true that sleep does make you look slimmer, healthier, prettier, and more beautiful… i read in this magazine about how sleeping really improves how you look:

you see that headline? Sexy, slim, and smart: the power of sleep.. oh my God i'm just in love with the cover girl.... who is she?????

well, here’s the link to the article Sleep to be Sexy, Slim, and Smart. please read the article!!!! i insist!! it’s really important for you if you really want to look better, and prettier..just like the cover girl above! click here

here are some of my tips:

-don’t stay up too late! turn off your computers when it’s time to go to bed.. many people just claim themselves to be insomniacs when they’re only a bunch of guys who can’t take themselves off the internet!! guys! you’re not insomniacs.. just try to make the room temperature cooler so you’ll feel more comfortable, hug your sweet bolster and head to dream land..

unless if you’re really an insomniac, probably you just think too much.. -____-”

-make sure your body clock is working correctly.. what i mean by body clock is the usual time when your body starts to fall asleep.

for example. i personally usually sleep at 3am.. and wake up at 2pm… now, my body will set those hours as sleeping hours… my body will assume that 3am is the normal time to sleep.. as a result, if i sleep at 12 tonight all of a sudden, then i will surely have trouble sleeping because my body and brain don’t think it’s the normal time to sleep..i will have trouble sleeping until 3am, because it has become the normal time for my body and brain to sleep… this makes it a bad habit for me…and that shows that my body clock is just not good. and if i wake up before 2pm in the afternoon (which is my normal wake up time), then i will feel sooooo sleepy… showing that my body is in ‘sleep mode’..

let’s start to set a good time to sleep..and we’ll have a healthier way of living.. staying up late like that actually makes your skin more baggy and pale..

you want to have a good tight skin like the cover girl above.. by sleeping at a good time..

-and make sure you have enough sleep! here’s a print screen from wikipedia:

depending on the age, we all have that ideal amount of time we need to sleep

-make sure you have a good sleeping environment too..make sure your sleeping partner doesn’t snore hahahahaha..

you don't wanna be that girl hahaha

-you dont wanna have a pale face because you dont sleep enough… so get some sleep if you feel tired.

again, click here for the readers digest article i was talking about..

Sleep is the golden chain that ties health and our bodies together.

Thomas Dekker

“Health is the first muse, and sleep is the condition to produce it”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

P.S. dont sleep too much either. you will feel dizzy, headache, or fatigue. :)

THREE:

if you think that fruits dont have what it takes to make ur skin look more beautiful, think again!

since, my fingers are starting to grow tired of typing now, i might as well show you some things from a website, click here for the website.. OR….. if you’re too lazy to even click that link, let me copy-paste the article here:

“Fruits and Vegetables for Healthy Skin

Eating for Beauty!

Do you need fruits and vegetables for healthy skin? Absolutely! A healthy diet is essential for healthy skin… and fruits and vegetables are fundamental to a healthy eating plan

Fruits and Vegetables for Healthy Skin

Nature knows best… enticing us with a beautiful array of colorful, health-enhancing foods. The bright pigments in fruits and vegetables are an indication of their disease fighting capabilities. They are rich in various nutrients and powerful antioxidants.

Fruits and Vegetables for Healthy Skin

Antioxidants guard against free radicals… the minute enemies that speed the aging process. That should persuade you to eat your fruits and vegetables! The key to receiving the most benefit is to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables… for healthy skin and a healthy body. To ensure you consume a wide array of valuable nutrients, follow the unique eating plan below…

The Color Code Method

Fruits and vegetables divide easily into four color groups. Each group provides specific benefits.

Oranges and Yellows

Carrots, sweet potatoes, winter squash, yellow and orange bell peppers … oranges, tangerines, mangoes, and apricots. This group provides lots of beta-carotene, a tough free-radical fighter. Vitamin C, highly beneficial to skin, is also prevalent here. Vitamin C promotes and protects collagen. Collagen provides support and elasticity to your skin … delaying the onset of wrinkles!

Reds

Tomatoes, red peppers, guava, pink grapefruit, papaya, and watermelon (all lycopene-rich)… cranberries, red bell peppers, red onions, and strawberries. Lycopene is the star antioxidant found in much of the red group. Studies show it may offer protection from the damaging rays of the sun. Numerous other documented benefits, such as reduced risk of heart disease and cancer, come from high consumption of lycopene.

Note: cooked tomatoes release their lycopene more readily than raw. A good excuse for extra tomato sauce on your pasta! Vitamin C is also abundant in the red group.

Greens

Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, collards, green bell peppers, kale, kiwi, romaine, and spinach. Vitamin C, folate, and cancer fighting cruciferous vegetables are the all important winners in this group. Eat your greens!

Blues/Purples

Blueberries, blackberries, beets, plums, red grapes, eggplant, and purple cabbage. Berries and plums contain some of the highest concentrations of antioxidants in the plant kingdom. They are so delicious! These gems make eating fruits for your skin a joy. Try to include foods from each group every day. The above list is by no means all-inclusive. A visit down the produce aisle will offer many more choices. Think color and variety. How much should you eat?

Serving size

Aim for 4-5 servings of vegetables and 4-5 servings of fruits daily. I know, that sounds like a lot. But portion size is smaller than you might think.

Vegetables:

  • ½ cup chopped…raw or cooked
  • 1 cup raw leafy vegetables: spinach or lettuce
  • 3/4 cup (6 oz) vegetable 6 oz vegetable juice

Fruits:

  • ½ cup chopped
  • 1 medium fruit: apple, banana, orange, peach
  • 2 small fruits: Clementines, kiwis, plums
  • 1 slice (large fruit): melon, pineapple
  • ¼ cup dried fruit: apricots, figs, raisins
  • ¾ cup (6 oz) fruit juice

Tip:

A large fruit salad recipe can be enjoyed all week long. Assemble on the weekend and enjoy this skin-enhancing treat anytime. Consume a large variety of fruits and vegetables for beautiful skin and optimum health. Simple and delicious, these gems from nature form the foundation of a healthy, glowing complexion. Enjoy! Reference: Joseph, James A.; Nadeau, Daniel; & Underwood, Anne. The Color Code: A Revolutionary Eating Plan for Optimum Health. New York: Hyperion, 2002.” so there..

*panting* that’s why i hate long posts… sore fingers aaahh……… :’(

FOUR:

this kretek looks delicious.. but hang on!! read what's in it for u!!

have you ever heard of the saying “smoking kills” ? yep of course it’s true! not only does it kill your lungs and damage your brain, it also does bad damages to your skin! here’s how..

A) smoking increases significantly the rate of carbon monoxide in your blood, this promotes those free radicals that make you look older (age-inducing free radicals)

B) nicotine from the cigarettes actually acts like adrenaline, which causes constriction of blood vessels (err….vasoconstriction? yeah..that..), and this means less blood will travel through the tissues, which in turn causes the reduced oxygen supply to the tissues (which means the epidermal tissues will also be effected). and this causes the skin to sag more, causing more wrinkles. you see? it’s actually a chain reaction… and a bad one too!! smokers have a higher risk of developing wrinkles.. so if you wanna stay fine and cute without any wrinkles, throw that zippo away (in fact you could just send it to me), and throw those cigarettes away too.. it’s not worth ruining your beauty for the sake of those stuffs…it doesn’t make you sexier..

C) Smoking ————–> premature skin aging due to the reason above ^ ————>more wrinkles

D) because of the lack of oxygen supplied to the tissues (mentioned in reason B), wounds tend to heal more sloooowwllyyyyy……………you don’t want that do you?

E) Pale face due to the reason B

F) you do know that smoking causes your lips darker, don’t you? it does. and pink healthy lips are sexier anyway – everyone says so. the nicotine from the smoke actually makes your lips darker and it will only get darker and darker unless you quit smoking..

quit smoking for beauty!!!!

FIVE

it's pretty fun, it's pretty addictive (when you're enjoying it), it's exercise!! (okay i suck at cheer-leading!)

now that you’ve read how the lack of blood circulation due to the constriction of blood vessels  in the tissues actually gives you more wrinkles, it’s easier for me to explain!!

you know now that less blood circulation because of vasoconstriction causes the skin to sag, and now let’s find a way to increase the blood flow/circulation and increase the oxygen level supplied to your skin at the same time!

by  exercising, you actually are promoting the blood circulation to your whole body, and the blood travels quickly with a lot of oxygen (since you breath more when you’re exercising) through the tissue.. this way even your skin tissue will feel the benefits of being supplied with rich oxygen. and when your skin tissue is happy, with more oxygen and blood circulation, your skin will be less saggy, less pale, and more vibrant! that’s how exercise makes your skin look beautiful ;)

remember that you will also be removing those filthy waste products by sweating, and that’s why your sweat tastes really salty.. it’s salty because of the waste products.. even your acne will tend to disappear gradually as you routinely exercise because even the waste products from your skin (in this case, the acne) will be removed through exercising. i used to have a lot of acne on my face. but i drank a lot of water and exercised regularly, and slowly those acne disappeared..hahaa.. cool huh!

our body is designed to move, that’s why you have hands and legs.. and that’s why you need to move! move! move! exercise!!!! don’t just sit in front of the computer or sleep or just shop.. those don’t burn enough calories to keep you healthy or make you healthier!!

SIX…………SIX…..six………………..six……………………..(echoing)

moisturizer!!!!! oh boy the girl above has very cute kissable cheeks......

yep!! once you have done all the five steps (before this one yeah), it’s time to add everything up with some moisturizer!!!!

now moisturizers are like lip balms.. it keeps the skin from drying out, and it also nourishes the skin at the same time..

however, the moisturizer won’t work if you keep on destroying your skin by smoking, not drinking water, not exercising, and by not eating enough fruits and vegetables.. that’s why some girls just always complain about their moisturizers when it’s all their fault by not doing the right routines well. (sometimes they even use the wrong moisturizers for their skin types)

remember that oil-based moisturizers and water-based moisturizers provide equal benefits. the only difference is that the oil-based moisturizer stays on the skin better although it feels a bit greasy (yuck!), while the water-based moisturizer doesn’t stay on the skin as well although it feels better and not greasy.. it depends on your own preferences.. ;)

to find out more information regarding how to make a better use of your moisturizers, click here

personal preference:

here’s what i used to apply on my skin

this one's kinda more expensive than the others but it's really good.. smells nice, feels nice.. it absorbs quickly and my skin feels much smoother the next day..

my mom used to use this:

my mom used to use this one.. it ran out and she never bought a new one..i think?

i’m sorry if there are only 6 tips from me….*panting*.. it’s a pretty long post..and gosh it’s 4 a.m. in the morning here and i do need some sleep!!!!! i need to take care of  my skin too, y’know! ;)

so yeah. i hope those tips and information really helped you out! happy living!  :D :D

Children

just several days ago i read this good article about family in the newspaper..

well, it’s in indonesian language, but i will translate everything for you. :)

Sunday, 31st July 2011

Newspaper: Kompas

Section of the newspaper: Tren

Article title: Anak

Children

by

Samuel Mulia

the advertisement manager where my client works has a very harmonious relationship with her brother and sisters. She is a woman who is the eldest sister of 3 younger ones. Two of which are sisters and the youngest is a teenage boy, who could still hug one of his three sisters while sleeping.

Harmonious

Such harmony did not stop when the third child got married even with their brother in law. In some cases where one of them needs help, these brother and sisters are ready to provide help. according to the eldest’s story, her second sister is the bravest in the family, “she’s the guards-woman of our family, sir.”

that story i did hear when we were having dinner together without the presence of the youngest and we talked until it almost reached midnight. a million of never-ending stories.

we parted ways in the hotel lobby. those sisters went home in one taxi and planned to stay over in their mother’s house. “so happy to have come home to mom’s home. my third sister and her husband lives together, so we can still meet up. it’s very exciting, sir.” explained the eldest. she still added. “the guards-woman is planning to get married in September and  carried to a foreign country. i am already imagining myself losing her.”

the taxi took me home, piercing through the night of Jakarta. if we’re already seated with a full stomach, usually the eye lids would always want to close down. however, for a moment, that did not happen, this head was filled with stories of the harmony of those brother and sisters, that made me smile by myself because i myself have brothers and sisters, who live far from each other, and we never miss each other even though our relationship is fine.

and then i made a conclusion about a journey of a family life. yes, i made that conclusion, i who has never had any family. such is the smart-ass idea.

“put yourself in the same shoes”

a father and a mother can be the head of the family and decide the game rules in the journey of the family life. but, having a harmonious journey in the family life not only is burdened upon the parents, but also how the children help in organizing that journey.

children have the responsibility not only to shout, but also to be able to control themselves to reconcile with a sense of forgiveness and undiminished love. i am reminded that humans are said to be social creatures. for me that means humans not only are able to interact with one another, but must have a sense of tolerance.

fights often happen because too much socialization and too lacking in tolerance. not long ago, i saw a movie titled “The Beaver”. i was sad to see a child talking so rudely to his father. the absence of the sense of tolerance often makes the child forget, that his parents are only ordinary human beings like himself, who can’t always be right and can’t always be good. the absence of such tolerance makes the sentence “put yourself in the same shoes” very hard to be translated even by a master translator.

“if only, i didn’t have parents like mine.” or “i’d rather live with a friend rather than with my own brother. it’s far better.” i believe that you have once heard or  ,maybe like me, have once unintentionally said things like that. i do not know about your relationship situation with your parents, but for me being social creatures also means being good at interacting  with other people, and especially with internal people. interacting with external people will be easier because they are not our own family.

i have never had a father who hits, or rapes, or is a corrupter. i also have never had a mother who is a prostitute, or a mistress, or who spends more time outside the house rather than with her children, or who has so dark a past. i also have never had an environment where my mom and dad shout and fight with each other in front of their children so that i as a child set that as an example and regard that as the right behavior, until i become an ill-tempered person, reactive, and a person who shouts anywhere and everywhere.

i apologize if i can not dive deep enough into it. maybe this article is too easy for me to write stuffs regarding harmony between brothers and sisters of the same blood only after listening to the stories of those three women mentioned above. this piece of writing is only a sharing of how wonderful it is to have so high a tolerance that  the journey in the family life becomes a happier thing to be undergone. doing a responsibility with great joy. yes, as parents, and as children.

and when you as a child leave this world, i only hope you “return home” with a heart that is forgiving even in the very last second.

this is what a family supposed to be: harmonious.

DAISO – a Japanese store in Jakarta

(this post is is LONG……because it is FULL OF INTERESTING PICTURES in it… so don’t be discouraged.. :p )

.

.

.

.

Today has been a very tiring day for me… but was fun… i’m not gonna talk about how i feel the whole day because i promised myself not to write a diary of feelings here.. what i talk about in this blog, is what is going on around me or what i see around me.

just this afternoon my momma and i went to this Japanese store in a mall (for those who live in Jakarta, the mall is Artha Gading) that sells Japanese stuffs.. and i’m not kidding, everything sold in this store is Japanese…so it’s kinda cool.. u dont see a lot of japanese products here in indonesia (which are not counterfeited though hahahaha)..

so it kinda gives you a feeling that you’re somewhere in Japan , knowing that everything around u is japanese.. and one more thing: everything here is sold for Rp. 22,000, – .. which is 2.2$ (approx. it depends on the currency rate, though).. not more, not less..

let me say this again…

EVERYTHING IS SOLD FOR RP.22,000,-.. without any terms and conditions.. pretty nice huh? whatever nice pretty product u see there costs the same as the screwed up ones… hehehehe..

and then there was one sales woman standing right in front of the entrance shouting “Welcome to DAISO (in japanese)!” and then again in Indonesian, “everything here sells for RP. 22,000! we sell everything from kitchen utensils and toys!”

…………………and she kept on repeating the same lines over and over and over again, whether there were people around the store or not…….and it kinda annoyed me and other people in the store (i’m sure!) because u just couldn’t listen to the pleasant japanese music being played in the store! what the hell? i couldn’t concentrate on my shopping..

so if u wanna come here and shop, make sure u bring with you ur MP3 player…

-___-”

.

.

so yeah.. this store sells EVERYTHING… and i took some photos stealthily too… here:

whoever designed this must have watched too much anime... hmm....

colorful liquids! although i am not sure whether they are used for paintings or drawings? or maybe calligraphy? they are all written in japanese! gosh i wish i could read! (see that label stating "Semua Barang rp.22,000-" ? that means "everything Rp.22,000." .. told ya!

these are for keeping paper documents of different sizes. i was starting to think that this store is a combination of book store, and other stores too.. u'll see :)

they also sell japanese decoration equipment here in the store.. with japanese descriptions which i do not understand hahahahaa

awww they also sell cute straw hats here! if i had a gf i would have bought one of these for her... (they seem to be intended for girls)

the sandals wrapped in plastic at the left are fold-able ones (i think, they were folded though when i saw them), and the right ones are, well, real sandals..ahahha.. made of soft padded cloth.. very comfortable!

this japanese store sells everything! even equipment u will use for cosplays! haha look at that! there are masks as well!! u rarely see these stuffs in jakarta..

it's a toy for kids... i don't know what it does though.. i can't read the japanese words and explanations... too bad... -___-

now u can see that ALL the words printed on the products are in japanese… oh gosh they are soooo japanese!!! because they are japaenese products! (duh!!!)

this is a toy for children. i do not know what this toy does or how japanese kids play with this. i dont even know what kinda toy it is. or whether it IS a toy...

these cute watches are colorful, but not water resistant. u can see there's a description printed on the box! i'd like to buy the blue one (my fav color) though, but sadly i have already worn 2 bracelets on my left hand.

this time i am sure that these stuffs are for calligraphy!!! hahaha.. (okay! u got me! i asked the sales person what they were! satisfied? LOL ... u see the label again? "buka berarti membeli" means "opening means buying"...

this large scythe, is for those who like to kill!! muahahahahahahahahha..... just kidding.. it's a gardening tool :p

it's a type of gel.. because it says so.. LOL.. but i do not know what this is to be honest... i wonder what this is.. hmmmm...

guess what these are! these shirts are meant for babies!! aww so cute eh? ..... just kidding.. look at the picture below :p (sorry if it's blur.. i was using a phone camera)

.

.

.

ta-daaahhh!!! these are actually for dogs!! to dress ur dog like michael jackson! hahahaha it's cool and glossy! making ur dog sexier! LOLOL

here's a closer look at the label

i am pretty sure those japanese letters read "o-ri-ga-mi" LOLOLOLOLOLOL it's so obvious xD

so Japanese guys eat grapes with spoons? @______@

it seems that Japanese guys love bamboo products! hehe.. these look neat :D

“]

hey!! they sell outdoor toys too!!!!! look at that boomerang! DAISO must have produced that boomerang so kids could hit their parents with it hehehehehheheheheh (just kidding guys)

look at those bags.. these bags are meant for travelling purposes.. they keep the food u store in them warm... it's pretty practical... if you're travelling to different towns and carrying cold drinks or hot soup, you can store them in these bags... :D

i am not sure what these bamboo or wooden matts are for.. i like the looks of them though :p

table tennis for everyone!! even for.....err....toddlers? hahahahaha

.

.

.

prepare for the next image…

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

*giggling* like i said,...fufufufu.....they sell....EVERYTHING.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHA

let me zoom in... *holding laughter* hihihihihi.... not that i'm being mean... omg they even sell these...."stuffs" in the store...dont feel offended!! >__<

look what i eventually bought... those pink and green containers are for storing food stuffs... look at the black ones.. those are for storing paper documents or notes... look at those steel products..those are kitchen tools.. bottom right are a pair of shoe pads..i wonder what that brown furry headset above the shoe pads does.. my mom bought that..

yaaayyyy my second A7 pocket notes!!!!!! (my last one got "destroyed". dont ask how).. i bought this one in the store. worth the price!

*GASP*......... i guess not EVERYTHING in the store is made in Japan..... @___@. i guess it's true, that "living things are created by God, anything else is made in china."

so there!! now u really believe me that the store actually sells EVERYTHING!! even those…..women stuffs…..

but that proves how those japanese are very creative… they have products for whatever purposes! they even have those  grape spoons for those of u who don’t wanna make ur hands dirty while eating grapes..

they even have toddler table tennis rackets..cute outdoor toys and the cosplay masks… to be honest the products there are very colorful and refreshing for ur eyes… u have seen how colorful they are in the pictures right?

some guys think that japanese people are popular for the porn videos..well.. i  kinda agree.. but on the other side, come on guys, you gotta agree that they also produce some of the most creative and innovative products in the world…. had it not because of the high prices, i would have had every single thing i have Japanese!

and look at the last picture above! that’s what they do to reduce the cost and so place lower prices – outsourcing. the quality stays the same (i hope….)… and u still feel that Japanese aura projected by the products… ;)

When man kills nature.

this time i am going to talk about the killing of animals due to the belief that their fins or their tails or their horns or whatever can bring cures to diseases which are PROVEN to be permanent or incurable, for example: cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, etc.. and this is a bit foolish to be honest, these guys are actually killing endangered animals because they think these animals can cure cancer. i think that is not the main issue though, i think they are killing endangered animals because there are people who buy the products.

WHEN THE BUYING STOPS, THE KILLING CAN TOO.

just the other day i went to this store with my momma. this store sold traditional chinese medicines made of different types of herbs and even animal parts (tails, fins, skins, heads, or whatever) which they believe have medicinal effects. and i was so shocked to see there were two shark fins being sold too (or were they only displays? or souvenirs?)

this was one of the shark fins displayed in front of the store. can you believe that it's 1 meter in length? imagine the length of the whole shark (which is now dead since the fins have been cut off ).

so there! the fin was only for display! and one shark was killed for mere decoration!

i mean, what the ****, guys??!!!! is killing endangered sharks worth it??? even by eating those fins, what benefits do u get? only the taste? idiots..

here’s another:

another shark fin! this one was located opposite to the one before this. so there were 2 fins displayed in front of the store (one left, the other right).

so there (again) !!! this could probably be the fin of ANOTHER shark! if it is the fin of another shark, then……. ANOTHER SHARK WAS KILLED FOR MERE DECORATION!!! although to be honest this one looked a bit smaller than the other.. so yeah probably it’s the fin of another shark… holy cow..ho….ly…cow……….

to open your eyes even more, look at how the fins are taken from sharks. :)

look at the poor shark. it has no fin :) (a sarcastic smiley)

image taken from http://www.xray-mag.com/index.php?q=en/content/shark-fins-traced-us-china (please visit the link)

observe how the shark is being killed. observe the blood. observe how the ruthless man cuts off the fin. and think: "do i still want to buy/eat shark fins?" poor sharks.....hmmmm.......

i got this image from the following link, please visit:

http://www.seashepherd.org.uk/longline/longline_shark_finning.html

here are where the dead sharks are piled.

to see what they are going to do to the above sharks, visit http://www.wildlifeextra.com.au/go/news/shark-fins819.html#cr (image taken from here too)

below the second fin, though, you could see something also being displayed………..

ta-daaaaahhh!!!!! this one was below the second fin.. it's an antler's horn.. cool! (hush! i'm being sarcastic again!!)

this horn was 1 meter to 1.5 meter in length (from one end to another), imagine the size of the actual antler!!!!! omg i really wanna see a real antler, NOT ITS HORN!!!!

and another horn was there too below the first fin, but i couldn’t take a picture of it that time because…well….the guard was looking at me….i dont think i was allowed to take photos but what the heck!!! as long as i dont get caught, everything’s fine :p

walking further into the store, i got to see more and more animal stuffs being sold. here are some:

i wonder what these frozen sea horses do for your health? look at the price tag: Rp.25.000/gram. which is.....about 2.5$ ? idk.. around that..

GUYS. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE GOOD HEALTH……………

GO WORK OUT!!!

DRINK VITAMINS!!!

EAT VEGGIES

EAT FRUITS

AND DON’T EAT TOO MUCH JUNK FOOD!!!!

…..

that’s how you maintain health..! the rational way! (and cheaper way ;)  )

and not to forget to mention: sea horses are endangered too. (according to http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/Sea-horses/)

also check this out, i found this video on youtube. regarding SEA HORSES:

.

.

.

NEXT!!!

…………..is the following picture:

i....am...not sure what these are........ but they sure do look disgusting...ugh.....i have never seen the living versions of these guys though... must be cool reptiles.. the guys who eat them? NOT COOL.

aww look at that cute little baby deer..... too bad... IT'S DEAD.

another innocent endangered animal dead just for the sake of decoration….hmm… i wonder if those guys (who trade them) have any brains.. just look at the deer.. it’s still a baby…and it’s dead… :’)

again, the deer is endangered too, due to over-hunting.. read this http://www.un.org/works/OLD/environment/animalplanet/deer.html

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

so there!!!!!!

just take a look at the pictures one more time…..and notice that all of the animals sold there are endangered, and are sold at high prices.

if you’re planning to buy products of animals like those, or other animals that turn out to be endangered, think again.

because if you buy those products, then the killing will continue…

and continue…….

and continue….

whose fault, then?

.

.

YOUR FAULT, for buying.

.

and if the animals go extinct, whose fault, then?

.

.

.

YOUR FAULT, for buying those products from the first place. Realize that, please!!

i hope the pictures i posted could open your eyes to what is happening to our dear nature.. and to the animals that help color it…

the world is like a huge blank white canvas…the animals and the forests, are the colors that create the beautiful painting on the canvas…

if animals that color the world go extinct because of our doings, then…nature will lose its beauty….the world will lose its beauty….

and in turn, your children will not be able to see those wonderful sharks, or swim with those happy dolphins, or play with the cute deer, or see with their own eyes the magnificence of the tiger’s colors….

.

.

.

ACT NOW.

.

.

“When the buying stops, the killing can too.” -Wild Aid-

P.S. i could have take more pictures but the guard was already suspicious of me back then. >__<

The Cove: a hidden tale of the dolphins.

sorry i have been so inactive nowadays… i am writing a novel, u see, and i have been so focused on my novel that i sometimes forget to post things in my blog… again, i apologize..

this time, guess what i am going to talk about in my post? okay forget it.. the title says it all! LOL

to start with, have you all watched the documentary “The Cove” ?

that’s one hell of a documentary there… i got frustrated when watching it with my whole class.. i am an animal lover.. i love nature.. especially marine animals.. i love them.. seeing people hunt them just enrages me..i mean, come on!!! can’t people think that what they are doing is threatening animal species??? those f*ckers..

sorry for the bad word.

The Cove (2009) is about the hunting of dolphins somewhere in Japan …and how an elite team of activists tried to stop this illegal activity….and how they really fought with everything they had, risking their own lives, for their love of marine animals especially dolphins..

for those of you animal lovers, i advise you to watch it :p

because this documentary will open your eyes, give you more knowledge, make you shed tears, and even more tears as u reach the ending of the movie……but trust me it will not make u smile or even laugh…. unless you’re a dumb retard who laughs at dead dolphins.. LOLOLOL

anyway so here are some screenshots from The Cove. (READ: SPOILER ALERT!!!!!)

this is the banner of the movie... and the picture says it all :'(

the water has turned red of blood.... whose blood? just watch the movie!! P.S. i hate this picture.

aww look at the dolphins!!! well, they look happy... there's something hidden within their hearts, though...... go watch the movie!!!!!

these are the hard core activists designing something. u wanna know what they are designing? again, WATCH THE MOVIE!!! LOL :p

for more info, just go here: http://www.thecovemovie.com/

happy watching!! :D

Book Recommendations!!!!!! :D

i’d like to recommend some books to you who love reading!!! (i like to read too… but sometimes i just dont have the time…)

different people like different types of stories… from sci-fi, love stories, actions, or even autobiographies… here are some of the books i’ve read!!

for those of you who like to read cute funny stories with morals.. you can try out Roald Dahl’s book… it’s meant for children but it is still okay for us readers to join in.. it’s still pretty fun to read!! it is illustrated and how Roald brings the story to us is very unique and i’m sure you will get addicted to reading this one!  and the words are easy too so u dont need any Oxford dictionaries by ur side :p

lookie here! BFG.... stands for Big Friendly Giant... not "Big Friendly Gay"..!

look at the conversations... so childish but it brings smile on ur face.. and no it's not that Roald is a retard that he wrote in such horrible grammar.. he did that to make the story even more fun to read! it's cute right? c'mon admit it!

(above) just read the text! it’s very entertaining!! it keeps us from getting bored…

and for those of you heavy readers………………………… i’ve got something else for you! yeah you!! whoever is reading this…

the following book is a fantasy book… about the adventure of a mouse named Matthias (a mouse warrior! imagine that!) and his friends… should try it out!

Mattimeo... a Tale from Redwall. written by Brian Jackques

i’m not kidding. this is a damn good book to read… it’s thick, 430 pages approx.. but it’s really really worth it!!!!

the thickness of Mattimeo book

here's a glimpse of the first chapter of the book. go ahead and try reading it :p

from the casual words written there in the pic above (i’m sorry if it’s not that clear but if u try, you can actually read it. just click to enlarge), i dont think you need a dictionary by urside because all those figures of speech just make the whole novel a very thrilling one…without the use of any difficult words… trust me, it’s worth the money :D

try and compare the thickness of the two books.

well, Mattimeo is twice the thickness of Roald Dahl’s book, but it’s as much fun to read!

go ahead and visit a store nearby and grab them! i’m telling ya! the two are good books!  :D

My Lovely Jakarta.. :) (screw it! i am being sarcastic!)

to be honest, i am an honest guy. i’m being honest here. so honestly i only honestly say what is honestly happening around me.

i saw an x-man walking by the streets (you know.. an ‘ex’ man? no not the movie.) i tell you about him…or her..or whatever..

i saw a little boy acting like a beggar, begging everyone in every car during the red lights… i tell you about him.. no, actually he wasn’t acting.. he didn’t have a right eye.. and he was about 12? dang… poverty..! yeah i’m gonna talk about poverty one day… poverty in jakarta.. or even indonesia… but today we are going to talk about JAKARTA IN GENERAL.

just this morning my teacher told us that according to statistical data, people in jakarta breath FRESH AIR less than a week FOR EVERY 365 DAYS. so for the rest of the year we only breath second-hand air (i mean, the air coming out of other people’s mouth. gross but its happening), smoke from cigarettes (smokers.. even children smoke here! look http://www.tempo.co.id/hg/nasional/2011/05/11/brk,20110511-333790,uk.html), and even the smoke coming out of vehicles (we rarely find gas vehicles here guys.. we mostly use fossil fuel. sick eh?)

(FOR MORE INFO ABOUT POLLUTION IN JAKARTA, http://studentacademichelp.blogspot.com/2010/10/air-pollution-in-jakarta.html)

anyway, so yeah considering the amount of pollution we have here, what do you think is the life expectancy of the guys living in jakarta? here’s the link. http://archive.wri.org/page.cfm?id=927&z=?

so, jakarta isn’t that good of a city as y0u think.

pollution not only comes in the air.. you see there's a garbage bin there but hardly any people throw their garbage there.

now let’s go to the traffic…………………………………………………

this is a metropolitan city. people from rural areas come here to find themselves jobs to do. and when they DON’T find any job to do, THEY STAY HERE. LOL. i mean seriously, RARELY do you find these guys going back to their villages. you can ask any Jakartanian you know.

now ur asking, “they stay here? but what do they do? considering they’re not accepted for the jobs”….they BEG… they become beggars… they bring their malnutritional kids with them to catch people’s sympathy… and then people will look at them and say, “aawwww…. look at that small little kid…here’s a coin!” and that’s how they get money! i’m sorry i forgot to take pictures. i will next time i post about my city.

what about those who come from rural areas and get job to do in here? they STAY HERE. and that’s why it’s becoming so crowded here, and they use bikes and cars to travel around. so can you imagine how the traffic’s gonna be like? i’ll give you time to think…

thought  about it yet?

……….

okay i know you haven’t thought about it yet.. but if you have, thank God. if you haven’t, then….God be with you.

here are the pics:

haha if u live here, u get to see this kinda scene ALL THE TIME. so it's not surprising for us. :) imagine driving there :p.. and look at the number of motorcycles!

this bus STOPS there. along with the one behind it. they're actually waiting for pedestrians to ride with them. imagine how the cars behind them will react.... oh yeah here comes traffic jam!!!!!

hey it’s not that i’m trying to ruin the city’s good name… i’m revealing the truth… if u see ads about jakarta being beautiful… well.. think again.. Jakarta is beautiful when it comes to malls.. and malls…and malls…….and malls… that’s why u get everything u want here (if u got money)… but consider the traffic (stressing u off), and the pollution (cutting ur life off)… in the long run do u think u will live happier?  u dont see beautiful parks like the ones in US or UK here. only buildings are present.

u see something touching the ground from the wild bus? that's the exhaust pipe... hehe cool huh? and look there's a guy in the bus staring at me! he's probably thinking, "dang i look good" LOL

why do i call them “wild”, u ask me? well…  because they ARE wild. they speed up like shit (no kidding) even in cities, dont care who they hit or who they scare off…that’s why u see that they look dilapidated.. oohh they have gone through a lot of hits and bumps and so on… these WILD buses are called Metromini Bus.

i almost got hit once by one of these. they were speeding to catch up with the green traffic light and i was walking across the street.

here’s another link i’d like u to see..please do: http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/jakarta/bus-attacked-after-boy-killed-in-accident/432588 and read the comments. :)

this is the path u take to the bus station... and ITS MEANT FOR PEDESTRIANS!!!!! but again.... law breakers are everywhere... here's one.. :p

i took this on a bus (and no not the wild one. a Transjakarta bus. u see a red bus there in the pic? yeah that one. i ride one of those.

Jakarta is a metropolitan city… you see EVERYTHING here… u even get to see demonstrations here… done by….umm… ah just look at their faces! they look teenager-ish to me… i cant remember what they were demonstrating about.. didnt pay attention because i was listening to Lady Antebellum’s music that time (i need you now..yeah that’s the title i think)

those are only A FEW of the things about Jakarta IN GENERAL… i will go into detail on each point later in my other posts.. otherwise this will be a very very long post.. i hate long posts…

and i know the shits happening in Jakarta probably happen in other countries and cities too…. but i’m just letting other people know, who didnt know about this at first…

and…

tbh i’m not a biased person. some other time i will post about the beautiful side of Jakarta.. no worries… its gonna be fun ;)

Charity…..? let’s do some charity!

hell yeah… when it comes to charity, some guys just stay away and pretend to not know anything… it happens a lot! sure there is nothing wrong when it comes to helping people, besides i think it’s entertaining…i mean, it’s not that i laugh at those poor kids for being little jerks and all (HA HA imagine if i did!)

… it’s fun to help them.. i’m not that much of a religious person and i dont believe in karma… or in any rewards that come from above..nah i dont believe those… when it comes to rewards, well… seeing them happy, is its own reward.. :)

for you who tend to stay away from activities like this, you probably think that you’d better spend your money on your own happiness rather than spend them on charity..i used to think that way..  things changed ever since i first did charity (cant remember when n where. i think it was a church activity? hmm)…. try to do it too and maybe you’ll change how you think about the poor guys..

anyway…

i know this story took time a year ago maybe? but i guess its okay to share.

me and this guy Faisal (fuck yeah a funny guy you should meet him… girls?)… some guy named Erick (an otaku, hmmm that’s all i have to say about him i guess..) and this girl Herwina (who is extremely obsessed with disney princesses…holy shit those girls don’t even have a proportional body posture! look at their hips!), went to this orphanage near Slipi Jaya.. a good place to hang around with the kids.. we got there for a class project but we werent there for the marks… trust me if you were with us you’d experience something different. here are some photos to share!

wait…..how do u upload photos here? i’m pretty new so it’ll take time..

umm..

…..

where’s the upload button????????????

…..SHIT!!

……………..  I CAN’T FIND IT!!!!

oh there it is!

here:

the one in stripes is erick.. some otaku guy.. the one with black bag is faisal..

the kids jumped into action when i announced we were gonna take photos. cute eh? the kid at the right looked like he was about to transform or something LOL

there's the old guy that runs the orphanage! umm i forgot his name.. sorry... -__-"

look at faisal! his hand's like "WTF" in italian... LOLOLOL dont worry guys he was doin something else

that's me in hawaiian shirt... look at the boy at my right... he's looking at me like some gay... but no worries he isn't gay (i hope)

u see some origami in front of us? (in the above picture) yeah i made that. i forgot what the origami was… hmmm.. hey dont blame me! it was 5th of august 2010! last year! LOL..  the photo was taken by erick.. herwina just had to go home before the session..

thats me talking to a boy about Captain Tsubasa.. u know, the anime about soccer...about a boy who needs 5 minutes (or the whole episode) just to shoot the goddamn ball!!

so what did we do there? some questions and answers with the leaders.. some jokes too… a lecture..by me (not that im being narcissistic).. origami… jokes with the kids… well basically we only went with the flow.. it was fun out there…

and we’re planning to go there again this week.. hopefully we’ll bring some more snacks there…

and for those of you who live here in Jakarta and would like to visit the orphanage, here’s the details:

Yayasan Yatim Sa’adatudarain

Jl. Hj. Sainin.

about the complete address and the phone number, i’ll go ask faisal tomorrow after class or during class…

i hope you guys who read this would like to do charity too.. help people’s lives before yours end!
